Troon was part of the estate of
Fullarton, which was owned by the Duke of Portland, whose residence in
Troon was Fullarton House.
A short par four
but the tee shot should be to the left side of the fairway to avoid
heavy rough and whins to the right. Not too far left however as the
dry ditch runs parallel to the 17th fairway on the left. Having safely
negotiated these obstacles, the player is left with a tricky pitch to
a well bunkered green.
