Head Professional

Kieron was appointed Professional to the Club at the start of 2008.

Hailing from Ayrshire and a BSc (Hons) graduate in Sports Science from Nottingham Trent University, he qualified as a Professional at Turnberry Hotel after two spells at Oakmont Country Club in the USA. Further positions at Gleneagles Hotel and Old Thorns Golf Club led to five years at Murrayfield Golf Club in Edinburgh.

An avid teacher, retailer and player he is particularly enthusiastic about the junior side of golf and the encouragement of new juniors in to the game.

Kieron is a specialist tutor of the short game and his unique scientific approach has helped many golfers successfully improve and develop their putting, chipping, pitching and bunker play. Kieron is a qualified putting instructor.

Talking about the famous 8th hole at Royal Troon, the Postage Stamp, Kieron says "Into the wind I’ve hit 5 and 6 irons, yet downwind it can be just a touch with a sand wedge" he adds "there is only one way to play the hole: pick a club for the middle of the green and hit it. There is no alternative!"

He classes his career highlight as a hole in one at the Postage Stamp in 2008, a gentle swipe downwind with a 52 degree wedge – his 7th in total.
