Although a little shorter than its illustrious neighbour, the beautifully manicured Portland Course provides a true links challenge for any calibre of golfer.
Originally designed by Troon professional Willie Fernie, winner of the Open Championship in 1883, the New Relief Course at Royal Troon (renamed Portland in 1924) was opened in 1895 and subsequently redesigned by Dr Alister Mackenzie in the early 1920s. With a generous helping of Par 3s and Par 5s which meander through terrain filled with gorse and broom, the Portland Course is a fantastic round of links golf.
Situated on a stretch of golfing terrain unrivalled in the world. This Kyle Phillips' designed links has hosted the prestigious Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open and Ladies Scottish Open in 2017. The first course to host both gents and ladies' tournaments back to back is now recognised as one of golf's must play courses.
The generous fairways and undulating greens partnered with a wide choice of teeing options offers a challenging and enjoyable test of golf to players of all abilities. Its coastal location and links conditions allows this golfing experience all year round.
King Robert the Bruce
Martin Ebert, who was the architect responsible for the reborn Ailsa, was commissioned once more to create another world-class golf experience to thrill golfers of all abilities. The breathtaking vistas from the 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th of the King Robert the Bruce delight golfers, with spectacular views of Turnberry's stunning coastline, castle ruins, lighthouse and Ailsa Craig.
With 18 holes of magnificent golf, the introduction of King Robert the Bruce reinforces Trump Turnberry's reputation as a true golfer's paradise.
