Stewart Russell wins at Royal Troon

Royal Troon’s Stewart Russell claimed victory by one shot in the 2022 Hillhouse Cup, played over the Old Course at Royal Troon on Sunday, 15 May.

Stewart negotiated the course, from the Championship Tees, with a one-over-par score of 72 to secure a home victory in one of Ayrshire’s most prestigious amateur events.

Paul McKellar (Royal Troon) and Sandy Walker (Kilmarnock Barassie) tied for second place with a score of 73, whilst Ben Gibson (Kilmarnock Barassie), David Currie (Royal Troon) and John Haggarty (Loudoun) finished one stroke behind in third with a score of 74.
